Michael Brand is the founding Director of Captum Capital Limited, an innovative consulting company which provides business development services to early stage life science companies. Previously he gained VC experience with 3i Corp in Boston USA, and headed the international licensing business of Occidental Chemical. He has successfully negotiated licensing and investment transactions in the $10's of millions.

He is a frequent speaker on technology evaluation and valuation, Monte Carlo simulation and real options, and has trained over 500 executives in valuation methods. Michael holds a PhD from Imperial College London, and an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management; he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, gained the Investment Management Certificate of the CFA Society of the UK..

Chris Brand is a senior associate at Captum Capital and PhD researcher in Psychology at Birkbeck College, University of London, where his research focuses on the Bayesian modelling of behaviour. He additionally works as an associate lecturer at Birkbeck in decision making and statistics.

Chris holds an MSc in cognitive and decision sciences from University College London, an MA in philosophy from the University of York and a BSc in psychology and philosophy from the University of Keele. He is a Member of the British Psychology Society.
